Wedding Wednesday: Maureen & Patrick at Renvyle House

Maureen & Patrick got married in Renvyle House in Ireland on 14th June this year. They got introduced by a mutual friend and having a lot of similar interests, they fell in love instantly and have been together for 9 years now. Maureen is a graphic designer and Patrick is a software engineer and they both share a love for video games and Stanley Kubrick films. Together they have adopted two doggies, Shane and Talia which just had to feature in the shoot as they are adorable, fit the theme and play an important part of the family!

When they got married they didn't hire a professional photographer and so I was very excited to get involved afterwards as their style was so unique! Their wedding hinted an 'Eyes Wide Shut' movie theme, where all the guests were told to wear black and white and given black and white masks at the reception as a token. The tables had massive candelabras and were named after famous movie locations. For our post-wedding shoot, we basically recreated the look from the wedding and went to the same location, but with the added benefit of less stress and time pressure.

The theme was revolving around the woods and was a mixture of dark, mysterious, sultry and regal motifs. At the same time, I wanted to make sure the shoot came across as positive and expressive of their deep affection and their happy and easy-going personalities. The colour scheme of black, white & accents of red was also crucial as we all know what the colours represent. I had to do very little editing to bring out Maureen's alabaster skin! For the wedding her sister Joan Keith did her make-up, but for our shoot Maureen did it herself. Maureen also designed her own invitations!

Towards the end of the photoshoot we used a smoke machine in a pool table to create an atmosphere and recreate the Pool Table Scene in Eyes Wide Shut which was a highlight for both of them. Personally, I particularly love the photos with the kiss and the smile under the archway - it was a bit of a moment between them and Maureen said 'He only smiles like that when he is really happy'.
